Webinar Description:

Ethics are often taught in absolutes when, in reality, critical thinking is necessary to effectively navigate the applicable standards and subsequent dilemmas that may arise in practice. One apparent example is when professional roles and boundaries begin to blur. Understanding ethical decision-making processes is paramount to informed practice and to reduce the risk of harm to clients, colleagues, communities, and the profession. This training encourages practitioners to intentionally reflect upon and proactively respond to ethical issues involving professional roles and boundaries.

This training is intended to meet the new WA State continuing education standards for licensed counselors, which requires 2 CEs in professional roles and boundaries each continuing education cycle.

Webinar Objectives:

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify at least 3 professional roles that commonly result in role confusion.
  • Describe the relationship between boundaries and professional relationships.
  • Differentiate dual relationships from conflicts of interest.
  • Evaluate the application of ethical standards in decision-making related to professional roles and boundaries.
