This presentation will cover drug-induced movement disorders (DIMDs), which are caused by antipsychotic medications used in the treatment of bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, major depressive disorder, and other psychiatric conditions. It will include an overview of what DIMDs are, with a practical focus on signs and symptoms to help social workers assist in the early detection of these conditions in psychiatric patients.

About the presenter:

Siri Mayo, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and clinical science liaison with Teva Pharmaceuticals Medical Affairs. Siri was born and raised in Washington State, where she is now based. She obtained her first bachelor's degree in Spanish from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She then completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Rochester, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Siri has clinical experience working in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings. In her current role as a clinical science liaison, Siri is passionate about educating a broader audience on mental health topics such as tardive dyskinesia and schizophrenia.
