Workshop Description:

This program will help social workers implement the principles and practices of Trauma-Informed Care through a somatic therapy and polyvagal theory lens. Participants will leave with tools to implement in their daily life to create a sense of safety for clients, manage the effects of secondary trauma and to prevent burnout.

 

Training Objectives: At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

· Gain familiarity with how the principles of Trauma-Informed Care (TIC) can be applied when integrating somatic therapy in a clinical setting.

· Describe the impact trauma and stress have on the brain, systems in the body, and the vagus nerve.

· Gain familiarity with trauma-informed somatic approaches to build resilience, regulate the nervous system and prevent burnout.

· Demonstrate how to use trauma-informed language in both personal and professional settings

 

About the presenter:

Becca Odom, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Yoga Teacher with over a decade of experience in the mental health and wellness field. Becca specializes in combining somatic therapy with EMDR for trauma recovery. She primarily works with women who have experienced trauma, chronic stress and anxiety. Her passion is to empower others to heal themselves and she specializes in anxiety, trauma recovery and stress management. She has been offering professional trainings nationally for the last 9 years and is passionate about supporting professionals to bring more trauma-informed tools into their clinical practice as well as for their own self-care to prevent burnout. She is trained in EMDR, Community Resiliency Model (CRM), Mindful Schools, Trauma-Focused Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and has her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification.
