NLIC, with the support of Chapter staff, has responsibility for: making reasonable efforts to slate at least two qualified candidates for each position in an election of Chapter Board members, Delegate Assembly (DA) representatives (if any), and NLIC members; Certifying to the Chapter Board Secretary the completed slate of candidates for compliance with the Chapter’s Diversity Plan; accepting and reviewing nominations by petition; and monitoring the election process and providing oversight for any alleged violation.

Miguel A. Juárez, Ed.D., MSW

Chapter President FY 2024 - FY 2025

Eastern Washington Region

Dr. Juarez is a Professor of Social Work at Heritage University in Toppenish, WA and serves as adjunct faculty at Eastern Washington University and Northcentral University. He has taught college level courses, e.g., Human Behavior and the Social Environment, Policy, Cultural Diversity, and Research, since 2004. Dr. Juarez earned his BSW from Heritage University, his MSW from Eastern Washington University, and his EdD in Organizational Leadership from Northcentral University. Dr. Juarez is an active member of the community where he resides. He is passionate about equity and social justice. Dr. Juarez enjoys spending time with his family and friends. For Dr. Juarez education is the key to success!

Syrene Miller

Syrene Miller, MSW, LSWAIC
Eastern Washington Region

Syrene A. Miller is an MSW graduate from Boston University, with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Communication. She currently works for a community mental health agency as an Intensive Outpatient Clinician using Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Forward Facing Trauma Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
