2nd Vice President

Allison Weide

Allison Weide, MSW (she/her(s))

2nd Vice President

I joined NASW as a student member in 2022 and had the privilege of serving as both the BSW and MSW Student Representative on the board. I have also had the pleasure of serving on multiple committees including the Legislative Action Committee and PACE, and as a Delegate to the Delegate Assembly. I completed my BSW at Saint Martin’s University and, after earning my MSW at Ohio State University, returned there to teach in the social work department. I also work part-time implementing substance abuse prevention programs for youth in Tumwater. I hold the principles and ethics of NASW in high regard and recognize the significant impact social workers have at all levels of society. I enjoy collaborating with diverse groups of people who share similar values and a commitment to improving the well-being of social workers and our communities. It would be an honor to serve on the board again and to continue contributing to NASW-WA’s mission and to advocate for the advancement of our profession. Thank you for your consideration.

Eastern Washington Region Representative

I am committed to developing social work practice and the profession in Washington State. We are currently developing a new social work program at our university and I am planning to conduct research on curriculum development for social work. I believe that these efforts could also benefit NASW in Washington State.

I’m new to Washington. However, I have been a member since 2001 in IL. Started as an MSW student. Have been involved in NASW IL many years. Ran for district chair and won. Will be finishing my chairs hip. in June 2025. Have worked in every facit of social work except hospice. Currently, work at Lourdes in the Tricities. Have completed training to be an NASW approved supervisor. Have provided supervision to many over the years. Thought I would give back. Love helping others meet their potential. Would like to help Washington NASW where I can.

Justin Hawkes

Justin Hawkes, MSW (He/Him/His)

Eastern Washington Region Representative

I am a clinical social worker serving adults with severe and persistent mental illness as part of a PACT team in Eastern Washington. I’m passionate about connecting social workers in rural and underserved regions and am currently working to establish a steering committee for the Blue Mountain Region. As a dedicated member of NASW, I’m seeking opportunities to amplify member engagement, improve regional representation, and create space for community, professional development, and policy dialogue. I facilitate a psychoeducational group (E-IMR) and a CBT for Psychosis group, maintain strong community partnerships, and lead with initiative and collaboration. My commitment to equity and access drives my interest in becoming a District Liaison and participating in Membership Engagement or Legislative Action Committees.

Cara Hernandez

Cara Hernandez, MSW, LICSW (She/Her)

Eastern Washington Region Representative

My commitment to NASW and the field of social work is vast; in my employment role, I mentor BSWs and MSWs to further develop their skills and abilities, while offering licensure supervision to those eligible. The social work field is one that has a role in myriad arenas, and advocacy is important, not only to find space to fill, but to further progress the field. I am currently involved in the NASW-WA's legislative action committee, serve on three local boards, and sit on the President's Hispanic Advisory Council for Eastern Washington University.

Christina N. Clayton

Christina N. Clayton, MSW (She/Hers)

Western Washington Region Representative

I would be humbled to serve our NASW-WA chapter to support our mission, workforce and field. I got my MSW from UW SSW in 1997 and have worked in clinical, management, and leadership roles, supervised dozens of students, taught courses at UW SSW and promoted our field at local and national conferences. My past position helped support the NASW conference last year and I have presented with Jeremy at UW twice for new MSW graduates. Prior to joining UW in 2018, I worked for 25 years in public behavioral health/housing/crisis non-profit work, including 20 years at DESC (Downtown Emergency Service Center). For the 2023-24 academic year, I served as Interim Assistant Dean at UW SSW for the practicum office. I am committed to DEI in all of my roles and currently serve as Co-Chair of our Psychiatry's Staff EDI Committee. Thank you for your consideration!

Nichelle Curtis-McQueen

Nichelle Curtis-McQueen, MSW (She/Her)

Western Washington Region Representative

As a Master of Social Work (MSW) professional, I have dedicated my career to macro social work, with a strong focus on policy, advocacy, and community engagement. I currently serve as Chair of the NASW-WA Legislative Action Committee (LAC), a member of the Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE) committee, and a City Commissioner on the City of Federal Way's Human Services Commission. My background includes formal training in public policy, equipping me with the tools to influence systemic change and further advance my professional journey.

In addition to my policy and advocacy work, I serve as an adjunct professor at Saint Martin's University, where I share my passion for macro social work with the next generation of practitioners. I have also had the privilege of engaging with BSW students across the country, encouraging them to explore and embrace the broader impact of our profession.

Michelle Bowlden

Michelle Bowlden (She/Her)

MSW Student Representative

While I still have much to learn, I believe I bring a unique perspective shaped by my experience in healthcare as a medical assistant and my ongoing education in social work. I am eager to listen, learn, and advocate for the diverse voices of MSW students across Washington State. Serving as the MSW Student Representative would allow me to bridge the gap between students and the NASW, ensuring that concerns, insights, and aspirations are recognized and addressed.

Leah Livingston

Leah Livingston (She/Her)

MSW Student Representative

I am a current MSW student at Pacific Lutheran University with 20+ years of experience working with youth and families in my community. For the last 15 years, I have worked for Communities in Schools of Lakewood, WA supporting young people and their families in a public-school setting. I believe strongly in the value, worth and dignity of all people regardless of age, race, gender, ability or citizenship and am resolute in my desire to be an anti-racist, anti-oppressive practitioner. I advocate strongly for removing barriers that prevent more diverse social workers from joining the workforce and for the continued deconstruction of white dominant culture-based standards and practices within the education and licensure of social workers. I will graduate next spring, 26 years after completing my bachelor’s degree.

Libby Hollan

Libby Hollan (She/Her)

MSW Student Representative

I am a devoted MSW student at Eastern Washington University pursuing a career in clinical social work. When my nose is not buried in a peer-reviewed article, I work as a senior recruiter at SOUND Behavioral Health where I am passionate about helping folks find a meaningful career in community behavioral health. Prior to working in community behavioral health, I was a human resources recruiter in various industries, including multifamily housing, suicide prevention, and supported living for individuals with co-occurring disorders. Outside of work, I facilitate a support group for NAMI Seattle, which provides virtual peer support to LGBTQIA+ adults throughout the Pacific Northwest. If elected, I hope to help engage additional MSW students in NASW efforts while building intentional partnerships with professionals at all levels. I seek to be a resource for fellow part-time MSW students who are preparing for a career shift.
